Home Sweet Home

Greetings from abroad!

We have safely arrived in Central Asia, I'll come up with a more creative name for the country we're serving in at a later date so that I don't constantly have to type Central Asia. :)

We arrived here yesterday June 5 at 3 am. We are 11 hours ahead of Texas so we completely lost a day flying. Weird. I'm pretty sure I have no idea what day it is. :) Our flights went well and smoothly. We flew from Houston to London and caught a connecting flight there. Hope hardly slept a wink. From start to finish it took us 24 hour to get here and in that amount of time she slept maybe a total of 4 hours. BUT she didn't scream the whole time (just the very last landing, more from sheer exhaustion than anything else). We're pretty sure the lighted cabin, even though they dimmed the lights and constantly noise is what kept her awake. But she did good and we couldn't be more happy with how our flights went.

Yesterday, we slept a bit and then went around the town. Kathy our host came to pick us up and showed us around the city. We don't remember much BUT we know it won't take us long to get acquainted with our surroundings, in the next few days we'll get out and go exploring.

Last night we got to meet some other M's from different companies that are here working. We ate at a local restaurant and got to try some delicious local food. The main meal was Plov (rice, veggies (carrots, potatoes, garlic), and meat (mutton maybe?, I'm not entirely sure) BUT it was delicious! Pretty sure between that the yummy bread and fresh fruit and veggies we aren't going to starve.

We slept about 8 hours last night with a couple of wake-ups from Hope so we're feeling much more rested and hope to not have too much jet lag. Hope is doing well adjusting so we pray she will continue to adjust and get use to everything and back on a schedule soon!!

A post would not be complete without a tour of our apartment. :) *note pictures of Hope rooms and the Bathroom are missing*
