We were invited by the team of PI m's here to get away from busy city life for a couple of nights and head up to the mountains. We decided to take them up on their offer so that we could have some time to reflect on what we've already experienced, to have a chance to prepare our hearts for the Father's work, and to get ready for the busy schedule that now awaits us. We've added 2 days of Russian Sign Language lessons for myself with Big H's mom, Liz, a relationship we were hoping to develop... PTL that he worked it out for her to be my teacher. Then Jay will be coming over two evenings a week to teach us as well and to spend time with Phillip. Again, a relationship we were wanting to develop while here.
We left early Friday morning and were planning on staying 2 nights (Friday and Saturday). Unfortunately, it rained pretty much all day Saturday so we all packed up early and came home late Saturday night. After some car trouble, towing said car, and waiting for a taxi for the family of the broken car we finally made it back to the city late Saturday night.
Ready to go!!!
Having lunch in our Tent Friday.
View of the other campers (4 familes, plus 2 adults)
River behind our tent.
Our home!
River
Phillip in search of fire wood.
From the river our little camping area.
Found some wood! We were very thankful for the fire after the sun went behind the mountain Friday evening and we had to pull out long sleeves and a jacket. Brr...
Horses on the edge of the mountain.
MK's playing a game.
Chris and his son cracking open rocks looking for Gold. (seriously)
Hope and I
We drove to another mountain valley a few kilometers away to a water fall. It was SOOO pretty!!
Path to the water fall.
These are different fabrics tied to trees walking toward the waterfall. An M explained that people write their prayers/petitions on them and tie them to a tree near water because water is pure and flowing. It was so neat!
Hope LOVED the water so I stuck her feet in...
She was not so found of the freezing cold water!!
Behind the water fall
Checking out the view from the car.
Her cuteness is just TOO much!!
Saturday morning it started pouring just as we were getting ready to put Hope down for a nap so we hunkered down in our tent. By this point we had 3 layers of long sleeves and 2 pairs of socks on. While Hope slept (which she took a GREAT nap) we played Uno.
Sweet sleepy girl!
Why hello love!
Warm in her footie PJ's (thanks Grandma Bird), sweat pants, two socks, and outside her jacket!
One of the last pictures I took when it was sunny.
We really enjoyed our night away to reflect and prepare for the coming days. It was nice to build relationships with other's M's working here and to hear about the work they are doing. Post 2 coming up!!
